The PHARMAC Seminar Series provides a number of high quality education seminars covering a variety of topics and caters to a range of health professionals. Seminars are a full day and are held in Wellington.

PHARMAC covers the cost of travel to and from seminars (including flights) and accommodation when required. Participants are charged $112.50 (GST inclusive) as a contribution toward the cost of running the seminar.

Attendance at seminars contributes towards continuing professional development for GP's (the Seminar Series is accredited by the RNZCGPs as a CME provider), nurses, midwives (selected seminars are accredited by the Midwifery Council) and pharmacists.

Seminars are open to any interested health professional to attend but are limited to 30 attendees. Preference will be given to those health professionals who are working in areas specifically related to the topic of the seminar.

The PHARMAC Seminar Series is now into its fourth year. The Series has grown since PHARMAC began the initiative in 2006, with over 60 seminars held to date and around 1600 delegates attending seminars to date.

Registrations are taken online through this website. Once you have registered you will receive an email to let you know that your registration has been received. Registering for a seminar does not gaurantee a place - we will be in touch to confirm places and to provide information on payment and travel arrangements (which we will book) closer to the seminar.

The feedback we have received reflects a high level of interest in the topics as well as gratitude for the opportunity to attend such a forum.  Responses to the day include:

“I would like to say a very big thank you for the opportunity to be part of this day.  I believe we can make big improvements with our care in our area and would welcome any other opportunity to learn and grow.”

“Thank you so much for an interesting and stimulating day - it was very enjoyable .  The speakers were great and I very much look forward to future sessions."

The Directors of the Seminar Series, chaired by Professor Norman Sharpe, come from a range of disciplines and have the responsibility of determining the topic and content of each session. See the Directors page for more information.

We are looking forward to the upcoming seminars over the next year.  The range of topics for 2009 are many and varied so there is bound to be something for everyone.
