Biography

Andi Shirtcliffe is a director of Integrated Pharmacy Care Ltd, a company which provides pharmacist consulting services. She trained in Otago (both under and post graduate) and has a particular interest in polypharmacy and medication management. Her background is in community pharmacy and providing medicine review services in both the residential care and community setting. Her current clinical work is as an advisory pharmacist in psychogeriatrics. Andi is actively involved in intern pharmacist assessment and pharmacist competence standard setting with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand, the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand Inc. and the New Zealand College of Pharmacists.  She is currently a member of the Pharmacy Council’s Professional Conduct Committee pool and the pre-registration assessment board.  Andi is currently a member of the Podiatric Board’s Prescriber review board and edits the publication Pharmacy Research Review.  Andi is also a member of the Australian Pharmacy Council Accreditation Committee's CPD accreditation working party and works as an international accreditation advisor for Australasian Intern Training Programme and CPD accreditation applications.   One of Andi's recent projects has been as co-project manager in the DHBNZ's Pharmacist Framework Project and working with DHBs and clinical team members to review medication use in rest homes. The Framework project produced a landmark document detailing five new national pharmacist medication management services.  Recently Andi has also acted as independent chair for Medsafe’s Cough and Cold Review Group and has been elected onto the executive of the New Zealand College of Pharmacists.

Andi’s non-pharmacy interests include music (all genres), history, travel, desert wines, reading, cycling, skiing and trying new restaurants.
