Nikki Turner

Biography

Nikki Turner MBChB, Dip Obs, DCH, FRNZCGP, MPH

Nikki is a General Practitioner, Director of the Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) and a Senior Lecturer in the Division of General Practice and Primary Health Care, University of Auckland. Nikki specialises in primary health care, preventive child health issues and immunisation. She has involvement with short term international consultancies with the World Health Organisation and other NGOs around immunisation and child health.  She is the Chair of Kia Mataara Well Health, a consortium of child health academic and service delivery organisations based at the School of Population Health

In primary care Nikki has a background in the development of Wai Health, the primary healthcare services arm of Te Whanau o Waipareira Trust in West Auckland. Currently she is engaged in developing a new general practice for the homeless with the Auckland City Mission. 

Nikki’s main personal interests are in preventative child health and child poverty. She is an executive member and health spokesperson for the Child Poverty Action Group.
